Story

The Lords of the West expansion includes three new campaigns set in Western Europe:

  • In the first campaign, we follow the fate of the charismatic Edward Longshanks, who conquers Wales and Scotland in an act of revenge.
  • In the second campaign, we learn about the new civilization: the Burgundians, whose main goal is to establish their own duchy in the lands of France.
  • Finally, in the third campaign, we take on the role of Robert de Hauteville, leading the Sicilians in a campaign in the territories of Italy.

Gameplay

Although, there are no changes to the game mechanics in Age of Empires II Definitive Edition Lords of the West, two new civilizations are introduced, and new civilizations bring new units, architecture, and technologies.
